I was finally able to create an acceptable long exposure composition on my last visit to Clark County Wetlands just east of Las Vegas.
This may seem like a trivial accomplishment but there is very little water here to photograph. At one point I even turned on my faucet at home just to experiment with ND filters and exposure times.
The other issue here was the mid-day lighting required the use of filters. So I just stacked the 3 filters that I had on top of each other; ND4, ND8, ND16. The initial photo was rather dark but I was able to recover detail in editing. The strategy going forward will be to under-exposure with the idea of increasing the exposure in processing.
