The short and honest answer is because I am not very good at it as in evidence here. This video started as a test of the autofocus system of the Canon G7X and just turned into a blooper reel. Perhaps one of the segments would be considered moderately adequate, or maybe not?

A little longer answer is that it gets in the way of photography. I heard one of my favorite photographers say this first. He estimated that the process of making videos took up about 50 % of his time. Once established as a branding mechanism it became a necessary evil to maintain followers or generate income.

In many cases, I would put Vlogging in the same category as a TV weather report. Thirty years ago, or so the weatherman started standing outside in the rain to tell you that it was raining. Mostly because they had the technology to do so, and the other station did not. This did not add any information to the presentation but it was "cool". Eventually, it became the standard format. Now it has even gone to the extreme of the reporter standing in front of a green screen to simulate being in a storm?

Now many photography channels (and others) will include some shaky hand-held B-roll just because it is expected as the standard. At one point it was the latest technology and "cool". Now it is mostly just filler.

All that said, there are quite a few presenters that include great cinematic openings, transitions, and music in their videos. Two of my favorites that you may like to research are Nigel Danson and Jimmy McDonnel.

Perhaps a little late for a New Year's resolution but my plan going forward is, More photography, Less video"
